Green Beginnings- Insights into launching a landscape design career

Join EWHA for an online panel discussion focusing on starting in landscape design. Landscape design is a career that involves a love of plants, creative expression, spatial awareness and so much more, hence why launching in can be intimidating. Hear the diverse perspectives and experiences from esteemed designers Jane Jones, Jac Semmler and Andrea Proctor.

Jane Jones runs award winning landscape design company, Jane Jones Landscapes. Jane works closely with her clients to create unique, sustainable and sculptural gardens that balance the natural space with architectural styling. Jane and her team support clients from consultation, installation, project management and maintenance.

Jac Semmler is a plant practitioner and director of Super Bloom, a creative plant practice bringing dynamic living beauty and diversity to gardens and landscapes through planting design, high skill horticulture and plant x art projects. Recognised horticulturist and innovator in dry summer planting design and the author of Super Bloom and The Super Bloom Handbook with Thames and Hudson.

Andrea is a landscape architect and horticulturalist with over twenty years’ experience with leading firms and Victorian institutions. For over a decade Andrea was principal assistant and collaborator to high-profile landscape architect Andrew Laidlaw, in his private practice and at Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. She has worked on public and private projects across Victoria, including some of Victoria’s most well-loved landscapes.
Andrea transitioned to landscape design from horticulture early in her career and now leads her own design and horticulture practice – andrea proctor landscapes. She also holds the position of Lecturer in Residential Landscape Design at the University of Melbourne’s Burnley campus, teaching Victoria’s next generation of garden designers.
