This scholarship has been named in honour of Dawn Fleming as the founding chair of EWHA. The original idea of the scholarship was inspired by Dawn’s generous endowment of a scholarship at Monbulk Secondary College each year to a worthy student who is doing well academically but needs encouragement.

EWHA’s Dawn Fleming Student Scholarship has been established to assist and encourage a female student (including apprentice) who demonstrates a passion for horticulture to further her studies in a horticultural discipline at an accredited or approved college, university or registered training institution in Australia. EWHA members and non-members are eligible to apply.

The Scholarship is valued at $1,000.00

2025 Scholarship

The successful applicant will:

  • be a female student/apprentice studying in Australia
  • be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status
  • be currently enrolled in an accredited/approved course* (including undergoing an apprenticeship) in a horticultural discipline
  • have demonstrated passion, ability and initiative in her approach to her studies
  • submit the following:
    – a completed application form
    – a minimum of two (2) written references
    – an academic transcript showing most recent academic results
    – any additional documentation to support the application (optional)
  • agree to partake in EWHA promotional activities as required, such as agreeing to be photographed, any media coverage, assisting with online articles and/or testimonials, and attending an event as required.

The Dawn Fleming Student Scholarship can be awarded to an individual once only. Successful applicants are not eligible to apply in future years.

    *An accredited/approved course is one that is conducted by a registered training provider. To check if you are studying at an eligible institution, please visit https://training.gov.au/.

    Applications will be acknowledged upon receipt. The successful applicant will be notified and details displayed on our website and social media. The Scholarship will be presented to the successful applicant at our annual celebration event if they are able to attend.

    Encouraging Women in Horticulture acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land, sea and waters and their continuing connection to their culture. We recognise the Kulin nation are the Traditional Owners of the land much of EWHAs work is done on. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.
