Event Highlight: Verdicus

Those of us who braved the cool and rainy weather to visit Verdicus garden in Tylden were treated to a special small group tour by Bruce and Keith, the owners of Verdicus.

Bruce, now retired, was a Landscape Designer, and spoke of the importance of colour, form, texture and line in the design of the garden, and the importance of always working towards a ‘Master Plan’, which with Verdicus, they did not deviate from.

Verdicus is a fusion of ‘Picturesque’ and formal design using circles to create intimate controlled garden spaces. The garden has different sections, including, the Birch Groves, the Tapestry Garden, the Vegetable Garden, the chook pen, the Hot Garden, the Blue Garden, and many others, interspersed with beautiful sculptures, and some reflecting family members.

Many questions related to propagation and planting were answered.

Thank you to Bruce and Keith for their insights and generosity in opening the garden to us and giving their time. We were able to enjoy morning tea on their verandah and look out on the beautiful garden.

The tour was rounded off with lunch at Spring Hill Nursery & Gardens, a great opportunity to network with other women in the industry.
